Everchanging Past
All historical interpretations are revisionist. All translations are imperfect. We look at the past with rose colored glasses, hoping for a time before us, thinking if we could go back to that time things would be better. Unaware of the trials of the past, not realizing that only a few had it so good in days gone bye, we long for a false narrative of America. My images subtly challenge the viewer to think about media and what images they showed in the past, who were the protagonists of those stories and how that media shapes our views of today. These images appeared to me when I was watching older media on my computer and the video paused unintentionally. I screen captured these images over the past 15 years and have selected the ones that reflect my ideas about the Everchanging Past.
