WI State Park Project: 2023 - Present

Starting in the summer of 2023 I am trying to visit every state park in Wisconsin and create a plein air oil painting in each park. I have been camping in some and making videos on my YouTube channel for each park I visit. This will be a multi-year project because I would like to stay in each park as long as possible, however being in a tent means I won’t be doing it the entire summer.

I began this project as an homage to both of my parents. They divorced when I was 8 years old but the happy memories I remember the most were our times visiting and camping at many of the beautiful Wisconsin State Parks. Even after divorcing, my parents still took my brother and I out camping at the parks. I lost my mother recently in March 2023 and I wanted to find a way to remember the best of her and how much she meant to me. My father passed away 5 years ago this summer and he always asked me to paint landscapes, but I was never that interested in doing so. I’ve found a way to be interested in them. I’m still finding my style, and plein air painting comes with many unique challenges, but I am finding that I enjoy over saturating the beautiful colors of nature.

Revisiting some places that bring up old memories and exploring places I’ve never been to create new memories is what this entire project is about and I’d love to share my adventures with you through my paintings, photographs and videos.
